SD's WCWs get inspired BY Fashion Week 2016

October 10, 2016 by Tuyen Aarestad in Fashion

Once again we've been MIA from the blogging world and hopefully grabbed your attention with our impromptu shower photo shoot.  I swear we want to be bloggers and we love our WCW followers and will be back with more consistent posts once we can just get our damn shit together.  Anyhoo back to the topic at hand.... Fashion Week!!!  Fashion Week has been making its tour around the world from NY to Milan to Paris and the FOMO is real. From the runway to the streets there were just TOO many coveted outfits we needed to be wearing right now.... as in NOW as I sit at home in my sweats typing this.  One day we will take this blog to great heights and get whisked away to attend any/all these Fashion Weeks, but until then here are some looks we loved, own, and wanted to copy.....

Gigi Hadid does TommyxGigi

This bitch designs fashion too?!?!?! Miss hot as F*&#k Hadid did a collaboration with the Americana designer that has all the celebs and fashion bloggers peeing their pants in excitement.  That means you Taylor Swift (her enthusiasm at the show was annoying and a bit heavy handed).  Never thought Tommy would be making a come back in to my wardrobe circa 1999, but looks like if Gigi can do it so can we.

What I wore - Scarf: (Gap),  Jacket: (F21 circa 2013), Leather(esque) Leggings: BCBG, Shoes: Prada, Bag: Chanel

We be #Shawling

Shawling aka 'off-the-shoulder' is everywhere right now and was bearing its shoulders among the street style elite.  Revealing necks and shoulders are the right amount of sexy without being trashy so hopefully you've outgrown receiving hickies and can rock the hype.  Also this look can make the shortest of necks appear Nefertiti-like elongated (that means you Eva Longoria!).  It's making a huge appearance in my closet and I'm hoping to keep this trend rolling into the fall.

What i Wore - Top: Aritzia, Pants: Bebe (circa 2008!), Clutch (Vintage Gucci actually my mom's from back in the day)

We couldn't be happier for the return of this early 90's trend.  The street-stylish are rocking this look in so many versatile ways.  With booties? Sure. How about heels? Hell yes. Tennies? Of course. My Birkenstocks? Why not? Hello Drew Barrymore circa "Mad Love," your wardrobe called and I'm all in.

What I Wore - Dress: F21 (circa 2012), Choker: F21, Shoes: Sam Edelman Lucca, Bag: YSL

Maybe it's cuz I'm a mom too, or that I just want her husband, her life, and her post-baby bounce-back genes. Chrissy Teigen appeared at NYFW prancing around in all kinds of drool-worthy threads. I particularly loved this contrasting look of sweet and sexy where the feminine flouncy blouse pairs with the structured high wasted shorts and a fierce pair of sexy strappy stilettos.

What I Wore - Blouse: Maje, Shorts:  LF, Shoes:  LAMB, Clutch:  Valentino

Well that's all for now my WCW bee-yotches.  I promise this time we won't take too long for a next post! xxoo

WCW's feel the Burn at "Sunburn"

September 06, 2016 by Tuyen Aarestad in Fashion, Musings, musings

It's been a while since we've posted here on WCW but the summer has been busy and after recovering from yet another birthday I haven't felt motivated to do anything but sulk. No, I'm partially kidding, but this birthday was a true eye-opener.  I had the great idea of having a birthday gathering at the San Diego Hard Rock Hotel Pool Party otherwise known as "Sunburn."  This invitation to my friends was received with a few sideways glances (even from my fellow co-blogger!) and a couple of "Really?"s but I was committed to making this happen.  My motivations stemmed from all the things you readers are probably aware of;  I love day drinking, I love bikinis and heels, I love wearing a lot of makeup, and I love dancing around to obnoxiously loud music.  It has also been quite a few years since I've made an appearance at a shindig of this sort so I thought why the hell not.  Well here are some harsh truths when a woman of my age decides to step out of her lane and into the world of San Diego's "adult" pool party.

Truth 1- Bikini and Heels are only good in theory

IMG_0031.JPG
IMG_0033.JPG

Approaching the birthday festivities I was FOR SURE rocking the adult pool party uniform of bikini + heels.  I was so FOR SURE this was gonna be my outfit of choice that whenever my birthday was remotely mentioned I'd reply "Bikini and heels!"  Flash forward to the day of, and I'm standing in front of the mirror donning the long awaited gear, and I just CAN'T DO IT.  No angle in the mirror and no selfie made me feel the sexiness I thought I'd feel .  Reality is, there's only a handful of times I've actually rocked the bikini and heels and it was while I was in Vegas on a 3-day bender which ended with a wardrobe malfunction involving a slip of the kitty.  So here I am. Older, wiser, embarrassed that I even thought this was ok... and went for the sensible sandal instead.

Truth 2- PDA's are for Pool Parties

IMG_9951[2].JPG
IMG_9972[1].JPG

Monkey style never goes out of style. 'Nuff said

Truth 3- Evacuate the Pool at 1pm

IMG_9931[1].JPG
IMG_0614[1].JPG
IMG_9942[1].JPG
IMG_9973[1].JPG

Nothing is less refreshing than a dip in the herpes-infested murky pool of drunk douche bags and their gf's dry humping under water.  I've made it this many years without an STD and today is not the day I'm playing that kinda Russian roulette.  At 3pm the cocktail waitresses spray everyone in and around the swimming pool down with cheap champagne, which means a sugary, sunscreeny sludge fills the pool.  Besides, getting wet wasn't part of the agenda when I spent so much time perfecting my contour.   Hard Rock Hotel was also kind enough to provide ponchos for those not wanting to get their poolside kaftans wet.

Truth 4- EDM means White Boy Boogie

Enthusiasm and commitment makes this guy a winner every day.

So there you have it folks.  Just your standard WCW shit show.  Until next time, enjoy some other snaps we got in below gallery....

Giddy Up! Del Mar Opening Day Shenanigans

July 31, 2016 by Tuyen Aarestad in Musings, musings, Fashion

In typical WCW fashion i'm late at posting this. Laziness, humidity, Prosecco and summer happened making me useless, but Del Mar Opening Day took place a couple weeks ago.  The event was on a Friday this year and despite all the anticipation and fanfare, it came and went as quickly and as sloppily as Trevor the aspiring singer i met in Rosarito  (this was pre WCW days hubby if your reading this. OBVI!). This is truly one of my favorite events of the year for a multitude of silly reasons: I love to dress up, I love to drink, and i love watching hot messes.   Luckily we had access to The Turf Club.  I guess i shouldn't say "luckily" since on most days Turf Club is a high end members only joint with uppity San Diegans in their seer suckers and their Tori Burch sweater sets but on Opening Day it had basically reduced itself to the vibe of a jam packed Vegas night club filled with middle aged Real Housewives look alikes.

IMG_9705[1].JPG
IMG_9713[2].JPG
IMG_9728[2].JPG
IMG_9725[2].JPG

This fancy shit show is probably one of the best people watching events of the year. For woman It's not only about big hats and fancy fascinators.  Skimpy cocktail attire and stillettos are the uniform of choice.  This year Valentino Rockstud pumps with Self Portrait style laced bodycon dreses were on heavy rotation as well as freshly inflated Juvederm pouts and cougars with obscene cleavage.  On a side note i just learned that if you are a lady age 50 plus you have graduated from cougar to sabre tooth tiger.  That is just offensive.  Back on topic....The men.  For once, here is an event where men actually participate in dressing up and wear their best suits or their Hamptons inspired finery. Think of Lord Scott Dissick but a couple divorces deep and amidst a mid-life crisis.

IMG_9874.JPG
IMG_9876.JPG
IMG_9877.JPG

Yes, one of those photos is in the ladies room.  And yes i am a shady hoe for snapping these unassuming pictures, but seriously NO judgement ladies! Rock on with yo' bad self.  Anyone who knows me knows i'm a fan of dressing way out of my age group (and body type).  Bikini and heels anyone??

We also got the hook up to the official after-party at L' Auberge Hotel and Spa. The debauchery continued and the people watching DID NOT disappoint.   No one was safe from the predatory stares of middle aged men with exposed chest hair and wedding band tan lines or the newly divorced cougar who was five Chardonnays deep and ready to "get hers". It was straight up BOLD the stares Hubby would get from those salivating sabre tooth tigers whilst me on his arm. Y'all may not know this, but i will cut a bitch.

Let the hunting begin...

Faire du Shopping

June 25, 2016 by Tuyen Aarestad in Fashion

You might remember that one wish list i made that one time i got to go to Paris from this one blog right here?  Don't worry.  I didn't check off all the squares besides that $20k list;, although i did try to reorganize my savings and credit cards in case my greediness got the best of me.  Here is the never too late update on what i actually did achieve from that list...

IMG_8609.JPG IMG_8604.JPG IMG_8670.JPG IMG_8774.JPG IMG_8816.JPG

I found HER!!! and yes this is a gallery of all the places my sweet Coco Mermaid Green Boy Bag accompanied me a la  Paris. Don't judge me.  When you visit the flagship Rue de Cambon Chanel store all reason, sensibility and practicality go out the door.  Sorry family, Mommy needed herself a fancy treat and after years of, holding back flatulence, menstruating, wearing heels, giving birth, juicing, waxing, and god knows what other things I've done to myself in hopes to gracefully age with beauty,  goddammit i deserve it.

So i didn't get the Hermes Clic Clac, but i did get this pretty Hermes white and gold enamel bracelet bauble.   After receiving a couple of these as gifts from the hubby i thought i might as well stay in theme and add to the collection.  I call this my fancy hand.

Maje_E16IDOLE-5626_H_P.jpg
Maje_E16MENTHE-0101_H_1.jpg
IMG_8813.JPG

Although an outfit from Maje wasn't on the list i made a point of shopping "comme locales".  I stopped in at one of the many Maje boutiques and stayed on theme purchasing this Parisienne inspired outfit. Maje can be a bit pricey but is wayyyyy more affordable in Paris than in the states.  This outfit would have cost me 35% more regular priced!

les-suites3.jpg IMG_8784.JPG IMG_8790.JPG IMG_8830.JPG

We also stumbled upon celebrity hot spot fashion boutique Les Suites where we had a run in with Tori Spelling and hubby Dean McDermott (you might remember them renewing their vows in Paris not too far back.  I'd like to think i had a hand in that).  To be honest we would have never have stepped inside Les Suites if it wasn't for seeing paparazzi waiting outside and then decided to take a peak at what all the fuss was about.  It wasn't till our second visit  when the store had time to finally give us the  "celebrity" attention we felt we deserved and gave us a private boudoir for some personalized shoe shopping avec chocolates and champagne.  Take that Tori.

Although i wanted to check more off the list, i caught wind that the hubby bought $1000 dollars worth of paddle boards and didn't want to be living off cereal and eggs for the next month.  So that is it for now.... or until i get the green light for a jaunt to Italy.... Au Revoir!  or shall i say Ciao?

F (YEAH) 21

May 22, 2016 by Tuyen Aarestad in Fashion

I recently scored in a pretty major way my weight in Forever 21 shwag while online shopping and figured it would be rather rude of me not to share since y'all were so sweet when I posted this guy a while back.  Not only did I clean up in the active-wear department, I stumbled upon accessories and swimwear and kind of lost my marbles. I received my shipment last Thursday (aka Christmas in May) and while a couple items had to kick rocks back to whence they came, the majority made the cut and those items are....

ACTIVEWEAR (TOPS):

f21.jpg
f23.jpg
f22.jpg

I got the braided back tank in 79 (or 3) colors because it is SOOOOO comfy and basically my new favorite. Tip- size up (I got a large) if you want the whole loosey goosey side boobage look.

ACTIVEWEAR (BOTTOMS & BRAS):

PANTS1.jpg
BRA1.jpg
BRA2.jpg
BRA3.jpg

As we all know, I love me some bralette detailing, and these sports bras include everything I dig about about my upgraded training bras and are also sweat-apropos.

SWIMWEAR:

B2.jpg
BIKINI1.jpg
B4.jpg

So I can't attest to how these bikinis hold up, but I can say they fit so well that I don't really care.

ACCESSORIES:

BRACELET.jpg

Just in case you hadn't heard, let me save you from a Britney moment and tell ya that this is the season of comeback accessories. We are talking chokers, toe rings, and anklets people!!! This WCW couldn't be happier about it.

Don't let me be the last to know... about late 90s/early 00s accessory come-backs

Who run the world? WCW's

Ok WCW's Let's Get in Formation

May 13, 2016 by Tuyen Aarestad in musings, Fashion

Let me hear you say "Hey Ms Carter!" Heyyyyyyyy. Yup WCW got the squad together to bow before the altar of Yonce at Qualcomm Stadium last night.  This long awaited event prompted hours of "What are you wearing?" discussion and "Heels? Flats? or Wedges?" We must have some kinda weird mental connection because rocking skimpy statement bodysuits screaming "Slay" and "Bae Watch".was how us WCW's stayed in theme.  I broke out my Isabel Marant knockoff sneaker wedges (i'm still not 100% confident wearing) to tie my whole quasi-urban street chic look together. Thus finding this fence by the porto potties meant urban photo shoot time.  Check out them Becky's with the good hair.

Now enough of my self indulgent OOTD rant.  Let's bring it back to the Queen Bey.  The day's excitement for our crew of 5 was too much for us to keep it together on our Uber ride to the stadium.  The inching traffic made us caged savages leading to fist fights on which Bey anthem was going to be playing as we rolled up, debate on the actual definition of Truffle Butter, and discussion of which is the best Blac Chyna emoji. Finally at the concert we rushed to a bar guzzled bad Chardonnay and Coors light to calm the nerves. Then waited........

I came to Slay beeeee-itch

I came to Slay beeeee-itch

Ohhhhh Lord did she deliver.  It is no surprise that her voice, her dancing, and performance were FLAWLESS.  She sang her Lemonade album (which I luckily binge listened and memorized so that Bey and I could sing in unison), and scream worthy hits like Partition, Crazy in Love and my personal favorite Blow Pop.  I don't know what multivitamin Yonce is taking but how do you sing, dance, and look so damn good? By the end of an almost two hour set her makeup, hair and composure was still on point. Bodysuits were not just a theme for the WCW's, in fact Beyonce had a bodysuit collection for each wardrobe change that did not disappoint.  When in life can i rock a poet shirt bodysuit with that much swag?

I'll  go put my lady boner away and go nurse my ruptured vocal chords.  Went a little too hard trying to hit that high note in Halo.  Here's a selfie parade from last nights shenanigans brought to you by the Lumee Lighted cell phone case.

Are You For RealReal??

May 03, 2016 by Tuyen Aarestad in Fashion, musings

So my fellow WestCoastWife and I vibe on multiple levels. In classic BFF form I hated her upon introduction and that slowly turned into tolerance which then matured into love, respect, and friendship level status: pee with the door open.

FullSizeRender-9.jpg
IMG_6508.JPG
IMG_6537.JPG
FullSizeRender-10.jpg

One of the 7,592 things we just "get" about each other is our matching RealReal obsession. If you have a weakness for labels and yet to hear of this luxury consignment online shop, consider yourself warned.  In fact, here: THIS WEBSITE SHOULD NOT BE VISITED UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR UPPERS, COULD INHIBIT IMPULSE CONTROL AND PROVE HARMFUL TO YOUR SAVINGS, MARITAL RELATIONS, AND JOB PERFORMANCE OR ANY OTHER ACTIVITY THAT REQUIRES ONLINE ACTIVITY.

Sidenote… Google searching 'warning signs' images can also be distracting...

w2.jpg
warning.jpg

Um, ANYWAYS, The RealReal has by far the best selection of second-hand designer duds, from bags to shoes to wardrobe to accessories at amazing prices plus the frequent killer sale. Upon entering the site, you will probably see the resident '20% OFF SALE,' pop a chub, and buy all the things.  Keep in mind this offer is always there in one form or another, and if you are able to contain yourself and hold out- just like with men- that's when things can get really interesting.  The best way to score a deal that would make Coco Chanel herself roll over in her grave is to create a profile and "obsess" over your faves.  This basically adds them to a list where you can watch over your babies like a hawk and when they go on sale- BAM- steal city.  Some sales are better than others, so keep in mind that there's a fine line in this game of chicken, and if you get too cocky you'll experience the whole 'didn't know what you had until it was gone' pain. RIP hot pink Lanvin wallet, YSL Tribute wedges, Gucci sailer shorts… thanks for all the dream-haunting!

Tuyen and I have taken our obsession to psycho proportions and a receiving a text from Tuyen at an hour of the evening typically reserved for drunk dials and bootie calls is a standard occurrence. Could be drunken, definitely tittilating, and typically consists simply of a link along with a statement subliminally searching for a push, a slap of comment sense, or at least an acknowledgement of the internal struggle taking place. Example: "I don't need these… but that PRICE" or "I will never purchase there. But I wish I had a place to wear them." or the always damaging "YOU need these."

Ahhhhh RealReal, you feel so good you can't be bad- I mean, if we insist our closet be fresh to death at least we can do it in a less destructive fashion. And we thank you for that. Amen.

La Liste Vogue.

April 18, 2016 by Tuyen Aarestad in Fashion, Musings, musings

Sometimes the stars align and you have the miles, the time, the friends, and the hubby's permission to take an impromptu flash trip to Paris.  Here's how it happened:  First, I've been diligently charging up my credit cards earning miles to make this happen, oh the sacrifices I make for cheap airfare! Second, the hubby owes Mama some ME TIME after leaving me a single mommy after a slew of business trips and a never-ending bachelor party.  Third, the trip is a quick 5 day in-and-out with two of my long-time BFFs to one of my favorite cities in the world...PARIS.  We've all done the tourist trap "have-to's": the Louvre (snore), Notre Dame (snore), Montmarte (snore).  Sorry history buffs, I appreciate the beauty and history of it all but all those museum admissions are cutting into my shopping budget and those long lines are cutting into my fromage and champagne time.  Therefore this trip is all about cruising around looking cute, eating croissant and baguette like it's the new diet, drinking rose all day, and above all PARISIENNE SHOPPING.

So let's be clear, as much as I wish I can run through the Champs Elysee checking off all the below designer goodies, my husband isn't a Shah from Dubai and I really don't want to check in my luggage.  This is truly just a wish list. HOWEVER if Chanel has a clearance sale including Boy Bags and ballet flats then sorry hubby, I can't be stopped.

Chanel Boy Bag

I didn't think I was a Boy Bag kinda girl until Kylie Jenner posted this iridescent green, mermaid hue chained beauty.  If I find this in Paris all bets are off and sorry to my baby boy, but college will have to wait.  (i'm totally kidding....kinda....)

Isabel Marant Boots

Nothing says Paris City Chic like Isabel Marant. City wear is the new couture and Isabel Marant sure charges prices like it.  I have yet to see these boots in person, but perhaps this trip I can take a mini-stroll through the boutique then gently put them back on to the shelf in tears.

Hermes Clic Clac

Costume jewelry shouldn't cost as much as this does (over a thousand dollars).  Out of principle I should scoff at this bracelet but deep down I just really want one.  Don't judge.

Maison Michel Hat

IMG_6071B2.png
beyonce maison michel.jpg
maison_michel_trilby.jpg
maison1.jpg

These city hats are a celebrity favorite and if Bey has one then I have to have one.  Maison Michel has so many amazing styles that hold their shape, are water proof, and fit like a dream.  These hats at their cheapest are $400 but can get upwards to the ticket price of $1200! ARRRGGGHHHH

Chloe Drew Bag

If you haven't been following our blog then you can read about my love story with the Chloe Drew here.  Nuff said.

Saint Laurent Jane Sandals

A sexy more expensive version of the Stuart Weitzman Nudist sandal.  These stilettos scream get on my feet!

Thierry Mugler Dress

khloe-kardashian-instagram-mugler.jpg
686095_ou_pp.jpg
Nicki-Minaj-Mugler-2015-BET-Awards-Press-Room.jpg
thierry-mugler-sleeveless-origami-dress-horz.jpg

Thierry Mugler has been on my radar for the last year and I'm obsessed.  Of course Khloe is donning one of my coveted dresses from his most recent collection, but who knew Nicki Minaj would be rocking something I would EVER want to wear!! For this, the Mugler boutique is definitely getting a visit.

If I were to purchase the above list, for the same price point I could instead purchase a Hybrid Ford Focus or add a bathroom to my in-law unit. Neither things I want, but would probably be more useful and have more longevity.  Although, arguably Chanel and Chloe are timeless....The truth is my greed surmounts the above list.  I didn't even mention the other Parisienne heavy hitters:  Louis Vuitton, Christian Louboutin, Givenchy, Cartier, Lanvin, Celine, etc. Sigh...... I'll keep y'all posted on how the list fairs.  Until then, Au Revoir!!!

Kardashian Kopy Kat

February 19, 2016 by Tuyen Aarestad in Fashion

Whether you love them or hate them it's really hard to keep your eyes off them.  Not just cause every gossip mag and tabloid has a new story breaking on Kim's diet plans or Kourtney's heart break, but let's be real, they are just so fun to look at.  I know, I know, indulging in conversation over these overly saturated media whores is as vapid as an episode of Kourtney and Khloe take Miami, but you would be a liar if not at one point you envied Khloe's hair, Kylie's new lips, Kim's eye shadow or Kourtney's handbag.  Let's face it the Kardashian's as controversial as their fame may be, they rock the criticism and hatin'  while looking SOOOO good.  You have all heard me obsess over Khloe's mane, and if you are part of my inner circle you might have heard me discuss my game plan on achieving Kylie's filler regiment.  But what really gets me in a Google-searching, Pinterest-pinning frenzy is Keeping up with what these Kats are wearing!!!!!

UGHHHH this skinny bitch is all my body goals wrapped up in 5% body fat and the best stems ever. Not to mention she's a VS Angel which is like the only sorority I've ever wished to be a part of.  I loved the cropped shell look with the tapered pants but can't go to such skin bearing lengths thus I opted for this look instead.

Khloe in this Wes Gordon frock was everything I wanted for the Hubby's big four-zero bday party.  I wanted white and I wanted tight,  but I had a budget of $100 so there was no way I was gonna find this $1,500 number in my closet.  But alas, I found this!

Kim

Kimmy rocked this curve hugging number during her pre-Kanye wedding Paris Paparazzi parade.  I wanted this look IN THEORY.  I love the color palette, I love the slinky body suit, and I love a great pencil skirt.  My body, however is not bootylicious and I don't have the ability to rock such a majestic side boob.  So here was my loosely inspired Kim K look...

IMG_7352.JPG

I attempted to take Tyra's advice and work my booty tooch, but to no avail.  Unfortunately this look doesn't evoke the "Dannnnng Girrrrrl!"  Mrs. West masters so well, but it made a great date night outfit.  BTW linen wrinkles like a bitch.

  • Rose Linen Pencil Skirt - Asos found here!
  • White Cotton Ballet Bodysuit - Asos found here!
  • Shoes- Manolo Blahnik similar here
  • Purse - Chanel

So there you have it.  I'm done with my guilt-free indulgent Kardashian rant and won't burden you or contribute any more commentary on the family.....well at least until I give Kylie and Kendall's new fashion line a go!

Make it RAIN...Rain Boots

January 11, 2016 by Tuyen Aarestad in Fashion

The Holiday hangover is real and in a time where New Years resolutions are suppose to bring out fresh starts and renewed motivation I have come down with a case of Blogger Block.  Or otherwise known as sugar deprivation, (I went a little hard on gingerbread, chocolate toffee's and baguette and have been unsuccessfully trying to kick the habit) thus the F*$&ck's I've given have been minimal and my blogging has taken a back burner.  Until now..... THE RAIN!!!!  Southern California is getting a well needed burst of inclement stormy weather. This is not just a drizzling, 'let's send a public safety announcement because its a touch breezy' pussy SoCal shit.  This is REAL RAIN.  I'm a sucker for seasonal fashion.  When most people like to have versatile clothing that can be worn from season to season I love the opportunity to purchase the statement leather moto vest I might wear twice in February and then ditch for a jacket because my arms got cold. Thus this so called Stormageddon we are encountering calls for one of my fav footwear to whip out.... RAIN BOOTS!

Clearly I'm not a meteorologist. Quite honestly I don't understand how weather and meteors even relate, but after all this El Nino hype we've been hearing I've got a hunch the rain ain't over.  So don't whip out your Nubuck Tod's driving shoes just yet.  Currently Mother Nature is giving us a little reprieve from the stormy weather for a few days. What a lady for giving us a minute so we may stock up on our rainy day fashion necessities! Almost all of the high end designers have had a rain boot I've drooled over at one time (that means you Burberry, Gucci, and LV!), but spending six bills on a rubber shoe hurts the soul/sole (like that pun?!)  Hunter makes a classic rain boot that is way more approachable for $150 but is still more than I want to spend.  BUT here is what I recently discovered when shopping for these bad boys....THE TIME TO BUY IS NOW! The great thing about post holiday sales is that designer rain boots are often already INCLUDED on sale! So although we still have a few more months of rainy weather most stores are ending the winter season and bringing in the beginnings of Spring Fashion.  Here are some fabulous rain boot sales currently going on......

J Crew

These Chelsea Rain Boot cutie pies come in black, yellow, a matte green, and this funky cheetah print.  They were originally $68 which is still a steal but then went on further reduction for $47!  Online has limited inventory but i've still seen these in some of the stores.  HURRY NOW!

Gilt

If you haven't shopped Gilt.com your missing the bus on some great designer finds. Gilt always does a great job at curating an abundance of designers and styles at a wide range of prices.  There rainboot sale has these Hunter Tall Wellington Rain Boots for $119 as well as a plethora of other stylish rain boot finds.  I love these ones in the shiny black and should probably not drag my feet on clicking the purchase button in my shopping cart....

Bloomingdales

Bloomies does sales right.  They currently have rain boots from brands like Sperry all the way up the ladder to Burberry and Tory Burch, but these sparkly Kate Spade Sedgewick rain boots have my inner 4 year old jumping for joy.  Regularly these are $175 but are now marked down to $105 with additional discounting for Loyalist members.  Whether you buy online or on site  Bloomingdales has markdowns ALL THE TIME and a great return policy if you have buyers remorse.

I have yet to make a decision on which boot makes the cut.  Like a well-hung man with a huge bank account there are just too many options for me to settle with one.  So for now I've been rocking these Missoni Rain Boots i purchased a few years ago on super clearance for $80 on Yoox.com.  Stay dry and fill us in on your rain boot scores!

What We Wore- Ho ho HO's Edition

December 21, 2015 by Tuyen Aarestad in Fashion, Musings, musings

Every year I throw a Holiday bash that promises yummy food and plenty of libations.  What it also guarantees is a derailing of composure and a shit show of stories to be shared throughout the upcoming year. To give you an idea; a panty parade, a street fight, a dead goldfish, and a vegan eating holiday ham is just scratching the surface on some of the debaucles that have happened in past years. If Halloween is an excuse for ladies to get a free pass to dress in a slutty costume, then this Holiday party is the opportunity to go big with skin tight, skin bearing, sparkly cocktail attire.

Jeanie:

  • Metallic Skirt - Material Girl, bought at GW(!), similar here
  • Deep Plunge Body Suit- F21 (available here, online only)
  • Leather Peep Toe Slingbacks - Christian Louboutin - similar here

Tuyen:

  • Leather Skirt - Vince found here however  i purchased mine at TJ Maxx for $59.99!!!
  • Bandage Top- Tobi (Borrowed from fellow WCW Jeanie!)
  • Suede T-Strap Red Peep Toe Shoes- Gucci Betty T-Strap similar here

There was some other fashionable honorable mentions:

On the left a soon to be married WCW Curvy "Air Wrecka" rocked a gold black and lace body-con number by Marchesa Notte. On the Right WCW follower and dear friend "I'm not Kors, not yet a Berkin" turned heads in a Badgley Mischka Black Sequin jumpsuit with her Stuart Weitzman Nudist heels.  It's so nice to have such stylishly enthusiastic friends!

Peace on Earth, Goodwill Towards Men

December 17, 2015 by Tuyen Aarestad in Fashion

This time of year I join the masses in cleaning out my closet (I'm sorry mama) and shlepping everything I haven't worn in 2015 to the nearest Goodwill. 'Tis the season of tax incentives helping those less fortunate.

One day, however, I made my way into the Goodwill store in my upscale 'hood after being brainwashed with a hazy desire to pop some tags and spend that $20 in my pocket. I now acknowlege that experience as a major life event.

This was the day my snotty turned-up nose was replaced by my wolfhound bargain blood sniffing one. It started with a Marc Jacobs plain grey tee and then turned into a bi-weekly treasure hunt obsession.

The selfish side of me really wants to keep this hand close to the chest, but in a last ditch effort to tip the naughty vs. nice scale in my favor, here is my roster + some tips should you decide to join us schitzo second-hand gently-used vintage GW shoppers.

This week's score: (in case you need some convincing):

Equipment 100% silk button-down blouse- $4.99
Michael Stars long-sleeve v-neck tee- $3.99
Cole Haan black suede knee-high boots- $19.99
Daughters of the Liberation black velvet blazer- $6.99
Lush black flowy blouse- $4.99

Ok so I don't want to paint this experience to be all sunshine and tits.  My first expedition included some cold sweats, feeling overwhelmed, and in dire need of some alcohol. I've had some feedback from pals inspired by my experiences who have turned up empty-handed and blue-balled. Here are some tips I can offer that I've picked up along the way that will hopefully keep the frustrations minimal:

  1. Don't go in looking for specifics
  2. Don't go short on time. Go prepared to look through EVERY.THING. All the things. As in, start at the rack closest to you and work your way from there.
  3. While perusing these racks, make it quicker by keeping your eye on the tags and your hand feeling the material/quality of the goods. I'm not saying everything you find there should be designer, but sometimes that sweater you might have overlooked ends up being 100% cashmere and as it turns out eggplant actually looks pretty effing awesome on you.
  4. Try on! Just because you found a pair of Mothers jeans for $5.99 does NOT mean you should grab them for principal's sake. Make sure the duds actually fit or you'll be paying $5.99 to take up valuable closet space and then sending them back from wence they came from December 2016.
  5. Consider a tailor/cobbler. On the flipside of that sizing coin, if it's just a matter of a little taking in or the heels just need a little TLC then by all means.
  6. Don't forget the glass (locked) cases. Ask someone with a key to open sesame and pull up a chair as you inspect what's going on in there. Typically it's obvious 'name' brands (see tip #7) but usually everything is stacked on top of each other and not visible without getting in there. This week there were some Gucci sandals tucked away, but not my style so they're still posting up if there are any size 8 takers...
  7. Goodwill is NOT staffed by fashion whores. Do not head straight to the glass cases and fool yourself into thinking you'll be able to bypass the racks. Yes, sometimes there's amazing shit in there and all the time there are brands like Coach, Michael Kors, and Sevens- not hating, just saying when the staff decides what goes into these cases they might not have the most discerning eye. Often you'll find price variances that make NO sense and much chicer crap out on the floor.
  8. Consider the 'hood. Do I need to spell it out? If you go to the Goodwill down in the barrio you'll be getting the cast-offs from the local cholas.

So go while the gettin's good if we cross paths deep in the throws just know gloves are off.

Love, Jeanie

Topic Cassoulet

December 10, 2015 by Tuyen Aarestad in beauty, Fashion, Musings

So given that I've been sick and my feverish brain is unable to concoct a concise sentence, let alone a bunch of them strung together to create a mediocre-at-best blog post, I figure now is a great time to roll out... Topic Cassoulet. A random mishmosh of thoughts and observations, kinda like Chat Stew, but chic-er.

1. Vera Bradley

vb3.png
vb4.png
vb1.png
vb2.png

Ok, so not to hate, but the only contact I have with V. Bradley is when I shop for my mother. Back when granny was still alive, I could always count on a VB box to bring a twinkle to her eye that only Chanel can elicit from my bourjois peepers. But something weird is happening over there at the Bradley bunker. I first noticed it when I was in search of my new gym bag and then again when Xmas shopping for Salami (an unfortunate nickname my mom's stuck with)... they have launched, how shall I describe them..., CUTE bags!? I'm currently formulating my opinion, but I'm excited to see these leather lookers make the blog rounds as I'm sure some 'sponsored posts' are on the horizon for our more popular colleagues (one day....).

2. Dove Daily Moisture 'Poo and 'Dish

dove2.jpg

This is another one of those 'Ante Up vs Pinch Your Pennies' guys, but I'm not ready to do another designated save/splurge post so in the meantime I'd just like to sing the praises of Dove haircare. Ok Wen die-hards, calm yourselves... I know, detergent, stripping, and SUDSING oh my! But I fell in love with these products back in college when my freshman RA was suddenly having noticeably good hair days back-to-back. She did the Christian thing and shared what was behind those shiny, bouncy locks and I immediately bribed an upper-classman to drive me off campus (a PLNU thing) to the nearest Target.  Four years and 2,920 days later, I still love Dove's Daily Moisture shampoo and conditioner and have yet to find a high-end name that holds a candle (which, on another tangent, why do I even TRY???).

3. Emergen-C

I love it, Tropical is the best flavor, and that is all.

4. MAC Electric Cool Eye Shadow in Superwatt

I LOVEEEEE THIS EYESHADOW!!!!  It's super-pigmented so just a dab will do ya, but the finish is perfectly metallic/glossy not sparkly/cakey. I probably wear this every day in some capacity, whether it's alone, as a base, or my personal fave- dabbed just on the center of the eyelid over my finished makeup look. I get a million compliments when I wear this stuff and should probably just buy some MAC stock at this point.

That's all for now! Got a new Sephora haul I'll have to share/dish on so stay tuned for that!!

More Bangle for your Buck

December 07, 2015 by Tuyen Aarestad in Fashion, Musings

If your looking for some unique Christmas schwag for your gals, boo thang or fashionably adventurous family members you gotta check out www.BulletsandBangles.com .  Friend, Entrepreneur, and Boozehound Meg Moore curates rustic, edgy, funky accessories from some of her favorite Southern designers and also designs and creates her own pieces out of Corona Del Mar (all the while with a Chopin Martini in hand).

IMG_7394.JPG
slide4.jpg

The North Carolina native's selection of bangles are a mix of wire wrapped antlers, Native American arrowheads, antiqued bullets or carefully selected stones like agates and druzy. I love that not one piece of her's is the same.  I once purchased a bangle I LOVED for fellow WCW Jeanie (that looked sorta like this), and circled back to see if Miss Meg had another one. Nope, these pieces are essentially one of a kind.  How couture is that?!  They are super hot stacked like photo above and wayyyyyyy more affordable to layer than Cartier Love Bracelets (however i will still take a Love Bracelet if you were so kind to send one my way).  These bangles make heavy rotation in my repertoire and you have seen me sporting 'em here andhere. If bangles ain't your thang, don't worry she also has handmade and uniquely styled earrings and necklaces.

Accessories are so tricky on guys.  Sorry guys leather cuffs, pinky rings and layered gold chains are just reminiscent of Jersey Shore's Pauly D. But check out these slick guy digs. These cuff links bring the uptight button up a little edge and hipster flare. Antlers and bullet heads! How masculine can you get?! I got these for the hubby  who has to don the monkey suit every day he's on the grind and he gets compliments EVERY time he wears these bad boys.  Beyond just cuff links Bullets&Bangles also has other fun baubles for boys like bold bracelets, money clips, and tie pins.

For the holidays Meg just got a huge shipment of new one of a kind pieces i gotta get my hands on. The best part is right now she's offering WestCoastWives followers a 10% discount and free shipping with discount code WCW at checkout!!!  Who doesn't love a coupon code?!?!  Also all her bullet cuff links are on SALE!!!! Who doesn't love a sale?!?!?! Make sure you stop by www BulletsandBangles.com  this holiday season and find yourself or your loved one a unique little treasure.

What do You Want for Christmas, Little Girl?

December 03, 2015 by Tuyen Aarestad in beauty, Fashion

Prepare yourselves for a greedy lil post- after reading we'll all rendezvous at the nearest angel tree for an exorcism but in the meantime I want to talk about The Perfect Christmas List. I don't know about you, but unless I want my S.O. guessing what size cargo pants I wear and my mother debating whether to splurge on the bedazzled 7s or Ed Hardy tee, the list is a necessary evil.

While it could be easy to go crazy and include every little thing your heart desires, restraint is muy importante for a couple reasons. One, like Tuyen has mentioned before, we need to shield our boos' delicate sensibilities from the price tags that accompany many of the objects of our desire. This is NOT where you request your Chloe Drew bag (Tuyen) or vintage Chanel watch (me). Not only will you be disappointed Christmas morning, you will be judged for even considering a gift with that price tag appropriate and find yourself permanently on 'spend watch' for 2016. No, the key is to mix a few mid-price point gifts with some affordable options.  This is where you list the things you DON'T buy because you're preoccupied with your 'next big splurge' strategy.

Here's are the items that made this year's list cut that might inspire a few of you who don't yet have any motivation to stay off the naughty list for 23 more days:

1. Eva LUXe Tote | GymTote

I've been itching for a designated gym bag for a while now. As chic as my freebie Rock'n'Roll Marathon sling bags are to tote my workout crap around, it's time for an upgrade. In my hunt for the perfect carryall, I stumbled across a blog boasting 'The Gym Bag that Looks Like a Birkin,' clicked the link, and it was game over. Santa baby, hurry down my chimney so I can hurry to SparkCycle in style.

2. Bobeau One-Button Cardigan (on sale now!!)

Guys. I currently have three of these sweaters in my closet and yes, I want a fourth. If you haven't had the pleasure of wearing one of these babies you are missing out. On the outside they appear to be a perfectly draped layering sweater but on the inside they are a fleece-lined heaven that make your rattiest, comfiest sweatshirt jealous. I live in these once the temp dips, they pair perfect with work duds, shorts, jeans, and if you see me at the airport it's a sure bet I'm rocking one of these bad boys.

3. David Lerner Leggings

I might be late (or early) to the party on these but it doesn't really matter because I have found the legging MASTER in David Lerner. He is my second skin spirit animal and just gets me and my legging-obsessed ways. He has found ways to make the basic black legging new again (hi python print, xoxo) and while you could pay full retail for a pair (or two) and it wouldn't be a bad investment in my book, there are PLENTY of sales happening right now. Tis the season to stock up- Saks Off 5th is all over my radar.

4. Bathing Suit

This suit is CA by Vitamin A's Jinx Rebel Wrap... a FEAT to find (out of season) but other reco's below

This suit is CA by Vitamin A's Jinx Rebel Wrap... a FEAT to find (out of season) but other reco's below

Bathing suits are just annoying to buy.  They are so expensive for such a small amount of material and you only get to wear them for a small window and many times in front of an audience that doesn't appreciate the fashion moment you're having. Be that so, there's still something about a hot 'lil suit that fits just right and Revolve is just killing it 24/7 with their swimwear inventory. It's hard to narrow it down to some favorites, but this, this, and this guy have me wiping drool off my chin and getting all dreamy thinking of that Caribbean cruise the hubs and I have coming up next month...

5. Beauty Goods

Holiday pallets and gift sets are ALWAYS something I get excited about. Can I justify purchasing another pallet or gloss set? I probably could, but the rationale wouldn't be pretty. Receiving one from a loved one on the other hand is a loophole and something I will actually play with... reminiscent of my Baby Uh Oh and Puppy Surprise holidays.

Ho ho hope that was helpful/informative/entertaining on some level! What's on your xmas list??

Fall Favorites Part 2

December 02, 2015 by Tuyen Aarestad in Fashion

We apologize for our recent absence from the blogosphere but Thanksgiving had us a bit preoccupied.  Suffering from too much stuffing, an anxiety ridden Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale spree, and the constant in and out of certifiably nuts family had us just a wee bit busy.  So this blog with my second rendition of fall favorites comes a touch late. I'm sure  everyone is probably on to holiday party gear, however if you haven't heard, I DO WHAT I WANT, and these fall favorites I'm going to wear right into the winter season. So shove that in your corn cob pipe and smoke it!! Check out another couple of my Fall Faves...

The trench coat is a huge must of the season and also  a great classic staple to have in your closet.  Its light enough to wear over a cocktail dress and comfortable to layer for those cooler nights out and about.

4e0d206e02a93adba63798d216dd26d1.jpg

I call this trench flasher chic.

I call this trench flasher chic.

I have yet to get the classic and coveted Burberry trench pictured above. Unfortunately, as much as i love the look, fit and would do anything to resemble Kate Moss,  I can't quite cough up the dough.  Luckily many companies have made similar styles that are far easier on the wallet.  I've had my gray trench for a few years now and have worn it casually, formally, and seductively (a trench can be just as sexy as it can be perverse.) I won't burden you all with that latter styling but here is how I've been rocking my trench this fall....

  • Booties- Givenchy similar here

WCW Jeanie blogged about affordable sweet sweat style here, highlighting how fitness gear is now also fashionable. Which leads me to my next current fave....STATEMENT LEGGINGS!

Clearly Miranda Kerr has inspired this fall fave for me.  If a VS Angel can rock these printed fun spandex well then gosh darnit I can stretch them on and cry softly in a corner.  No I kid, I love a fun pair of leggings for fitness and for slumming around town.  In lieu of sporting bed head and my husbands sweats to Target on my Saturday morning, a pair of statement leggings make me feel like I've put a little effort in to my early outing.  It also appears like I just might hit the gym....

She will be mine....Oh yes....She will be mine...

November 25, 2015 by Tuyen Aarestad in Fashion

Drew.....I came across you at the Chloe boutique last winter and you intrigued me.  The elegant gold hardware, the multiple colors and combinations, the soft supple leather, the cross-body functionality.  Are you for cocktail parties or for city shopping?  You were an enigma that I wasn't ready for so I pushed you away and turned to the hunt for the usual suspect; Clutches.  Yes I flirted with Jimmy Choo, his Candy Clutches were so tantalizing. Saint Laurent had me near begging for his envelope bags.  Don't get me started on the hard body of Kotur clutches I almost gave in on sight! But after all that bouncing around still nothing was fitting the bill, and my closet felt once again empty and vacant.  What is missing? Who can complete that pencil skirt ensemble? Who can be by my side at the next bridal shower I'm forced to attend? But then as I was clicking through the post after post on Pinterest, once again THERE YOU WERE....

Blake Lively. First you take Ryan Reynolds and now you have the Drew Chloe. WHYYYYYYY?????

Blake Lively. First you take Ryan Reynolds and now you have the Drew Chloe. WHYYYYYYY?????

ARRRRGHH! and In the arms of one of my all time fave style icons!! THE BITCH!! But it didn't stop there...Drew you made your rounds....

There Olivia Palermo is once again rubbing your beautiful versatility in my face like she did here. Then you're out and about with Christina Milian looking coy in an edgy red and black.  I saw you slumming it with Rosie Huntington-Whitely at Coachella. And I almost couldn't take it seeing you with blogger extraordinaire Chiara Ferragni in a sexy python.

What does Lorde have that I don't?!? other than millions of dollars in Billboard hits and front row access to Paris Fashion Week.

What does Lorde have that I don't?!? other than millions of dollars in Billboard hits and front row access to Paris Fashion Week.

But then I see you with creepy, irreverent LORDE!!!  Drew do you have any boundaries?! I am sorry I've scorned you.  I will not turn my back on you ever again.  But dammit I just tied up my funds in a new front yard! UGGGHHH!!!! Home owning can be such a burden! I can not ask the hubby for you for Christmas (I refuse to have him buy me handbags for fear of him realizing the cost). So Drew our affair must wait  I will patiently collect my Nordstrom points. Maybe extend my Neiman Marcus credit line. Or perhaps we will be reunited in January at the end of season sale....YES.  You will be in my arms soon enough. Until then.... i just have to decide the color.

Fall Favorites Part 1

November 23, 2015 by Tuyen Aarestad in Fashion

Fall is halfway through and although we are enjoying an 80 degree spell here in sunny Socal, I still like to get into the spirit of Autumnal fashion.  Fall fashion is the most versatile for Southern Californians especially when we are prone to Indian Summers. The dichotamy of boots with shorts and scarves with tanks is all a part of how we transition our closets with the seasons for us West Coast Wives.  Even in the winter the mild shift in climate means much of my wardrobe will be just a rerun of my fall favorites.

My first fave goes to (drumroll please)..... Mustard, Goldenrod, Ochre, Yellow, whatever this color is I am LOVING IT.

12b340ae810aa47333c23bd6234e1fd6.jpg
585c31209851fce71d9e9ecfbe26e4d5.jpg

This color pairs well with so much.  I love it with denim, black, grey, navy, white, etc. Style inspiration Olivia Palermo in above photo is rocking the color on her gorgeous coat and tying it all in with the drool worthy Chloe Drew bag (I would cut her for that bag). Since I'm in heavy saving mode for the holidays, instead of racing to Nordstrom's and purchasing every mustard accent piece I could find, I dug through my closet and found my one Mustard/Ochre piece that has made heavy rotation.

My next Fall must wear is the Over the Knee boot.  This look went from street walking Pretty Woman to Urban Chic Socialite:

Damn you Olivia!! Must you always wear the outfit of my dreams?!?

Damn you Olivia!! Must you always wear the outfit of my dreams?!?

The over the knee boot has been making a comeback this season and I'm loving the new take on the trend. I have always struggled with the Over the Knee boot. There is a dangerous tipping point where your daytime brunch outfit can go from stylish to "where dis ho goin'?" really quick. We've seen the stiletto, lace up, studded, dominatrix styles in past seasons but this fall the over the knee trend now has swayed to a more down town, city girl, socialite chic. Isabel Marant can do no wrong with her two boots pictured above. And Olivia Palermo makes another cameo styling the Stuart Weitzmann Highland's that fellow blogger Jeanie swooned over here. Olivia styles it with a simple clutch and a fabulous shift (I would punch her in the neck for that dress!). Both Isabel Marant's and Mr. Weitzmann's OTK masterpieces come way to close to the value of the repairs I need on my CRV, so I once again threw my wallet out of reach and dug through my closet. I ended up finding these more "down to earth" comfy Over the Knee boots.

  • Boots- Dolce Vita similar here
  • Dress- Lulu's Navy striped dress similar here
  • Handbag- Louis Vuitton Artsy MM
  • Bracelet - Bullets & Bangles

Well that's it for now. I apologize for the quality of my images.  I am currently learning how to use a DSLR camera (don't even know what that means), so hopefully you will see the quality of photography evolve but then again I may just resort back to selfies with my Iphone.   I'll be back with some more fall favorites before the season is over.  CIAO!

Where'd you get that SWEET SWEAT STYLE???

November 11, 2015 by Tuyen Aarestad in FITNESS, Fashion

When you work out as much as I do (a WCW prerequisite) your workout wardrobe begins to take on a life of it's own. There are many elements to consider when picking out your fitness fashion story- will I find myself in positions that could potentially display my vadge or be conducive to camel-toe? Will I be likely to sweat, not in a 'getting-my-cardio-on' chic way, but in a 'this-plank-is-making-me-drip-like-an-obese' way? Will I really be working out, or just actually want to be comfy and APPEAR to be heading to/from some fitness fun? This is when you have to make wise choices and pick:  leggings versus shorts, a dark colored top versus light, or rock that neon legging/off the shoulder/caged sports bra/cute sneaker combo.

When it comes to my own personal collection, of course I've got my Lulu and Lorna staples.  I live and die by my Speed Shorts and have been known to incorporate my Amy Tights into an office OOTD. I love Nike, Alo, and Zella all day every day.

But can I just take a sec and officially go on the record to say F21 has stepped up their activewear offerings like whoa??? They are blowing my mind these days with their selection, fashion, and price points (duh).

I can't even count how many times I get asked where my F21 workout top/bottoms are from. Church. I don't even feel shame when I proclaim "they're FOREVER 21!!!!" because a). I'm not that bougie and b). I secretly and selfishly hope the more chicks buy their activewear the more they'll make.

Here are some of my current faves, many of which I already own & luv:

Bras:

Dotted Cage-Back Sports Bra
Crisscross Sports Bra
Caged-Back Heathered Sports Bra
Caged-Back Sports Bra

Tops:

Be Strong Racerback Tank

	 Mesh-Back Pocket Tank
Crisscross-Back Athletic Tank

Leggings:

Beat You To It Leggings
Contrast Mesh Athletic Capri Leggings
	 Pixel Print Athletic Capri Leggings
Contrast Mesh-Paneled Leggings
Heathered Side-Cutout Capri Leggings

Shorts:

Heathered Mesh-Paneled Workout Shorts
Woven Dolphin Shorts
Side-Cutout Heathered Shorts
No Days Off Mesh Shorts

Here's a real-life WCW's photo-op of me rocking option #3 (in black), and co-blogger rocking a green F21 pair at this year's Pride 5k:

I won that race BTW. Just kidding. I came in second. Tuyen... just had a nice time.

So go support your local mass-produced, style-stealing F21 this holiday season and remember to size up.

What We Wore...

November 10, 2015 by Tuyen Aarestad in Fashion, musings

We wives got the opportunity to broaden our cultural horizons and attend Art San Diego '15, A Spectrum Art Show, last Thursday. When VIP tix to the opening night presented themselves, we had to make an appearance with the hubbies.  After a few "VIP" blunders (aka having a nerd with a walkie-talkie explain that our "VIP" access wasn't the "VIP VIP" status and to stop trying to swipe free drink and food from the private patios) we steered our attention away from the forbidden fondue fountains and ice sculptures and instead brought our focus to the event and all it's glory. Who needs liquified cheese when we have access to row after row of art exhibits, crowds of great people watching, disgusting expensive chardonnay and our hangry husbands in tow?

As much as I would like to describe the art exhibits and discuss our favorite expressions of pointillist art, I have no idea what that even means nor do I know anything about cubism or neo-dada.  Thus, lets focus on what was most important to us....
